Halah Ahmad, FAS '17

Halah graduated in 2017 in the Comparative Study of Religion and Sociology. She also completed a Masters in Public Policy (MPP) as the Lionel de Jersey Harvard Scholar at Emmanuel College, at the University of Cambridge. Halah has lived and worked in multiple cities in the Middle East, Europe and the U.S., and is now based in New York City. She enjoys spending time with friends over tea or coffee, playing tennis, and trying out new foodie spots.
Maryam Sharrieff, MDiv

Maryam is an educator, filmmaker, lecturer, linguist, researcher and student of the development of Islam in America. Maryam has studied and conducted research internationally, and remains committed to developing a career as a scholar, educator, academic administrator and in working to establish a more balanced understanding of Islam in America today. Maryam is dedicated to building and contributing to institutions conducive to the pursuit of human excellence. She received her Bachelor’s in Middle Eastern Studies/Italian/TV & Film from Rutgers University and obtained her Master’s in Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School and is a University Chaplain in the Boston area.

Yacine Fares graduated from Harvard College in 2015 (Adams House!), having studied Applied Mathematics and Economics. He is currently a data scientist at Uber Technologies in San Francisco, CA. He is an avid soccer fan (Real Madrid!) and loves spending his free time outdoors in the Bay Area. Please reach out to Yacine with any ideas on how HUMA can be a better resource for you!
Sarwar Khobeib, FAS '94

Sarwar has been part of the Harvard Muslim community for over 30 years; having graduated in the early 90s and served on HIS board during undergrad, he continued to attend HUMA dinners and HAA events. In his personal life, his wife and four children are extremely important. Professionally, he has worked in management and development roles in telemedicine, helping to develop and implement technology to optimize patient care, and working in healthcare investment banking as an Executive. He hopes to be a resource for HUMA members become more active, so reach out if you have suggestions to help HUMA.
